This image is a photograph of the copy made by Faucett (1894-1977)  and Henry (dates unknown), which is now in the Alaska State Museum collection.

The original for this scene was painted by Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze, who famously painted the iconic portrayal of Washington Crossing the Delaware which currently hangs in the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum. The original oil painting of the scene here depicted hangs in the Alaska Room of the Seward House Museum in Auburn, New York.

Faucett and Henry were commissioned to paint two copies of this scene in 1934. The other copy hangs in the Department of the Interior Treasury Room in Washington, D.C. The Department of the Interior website states that

Faucett was a graduate of Brigham Young University and studied fresco and mosaics in France, Germany and Italy. He earned the Meritorious Service Award for his work as art director for the Special Service during World War II.

Helen Wessells Henry was a member of the Art Students League and had a number of one man shows in New York City and Westchester County. She studied drawing, composition and painting at the Art Students League in New York, Italy and France.

The couple presumably met while they were both studying at the Art Students League in New York, and were married on September 15, 1925. They later divorced.

The Signing of the Alaska Treaty marks the purchase of the Alaska from the Russians in 1867. Secretary of State William H. Seward was the primary negotiator.
