Theodore J. Richardson

Richardson was one of the earliest traveler-artists to arrive in Alaska. Born in Maine in 1855, he grew up in Minnesota and travelled frequently to California, where he met his wife. In an atmosphere of exploration, he travelled through the Inside Passage and developed his oeuvre painting the coastal landscapes and glacier scenes for which he is best known.
