Ken Muenzenmayer works in acrylic on a textured surface, fracturing brushstrokes into minute pieces and using a visual blending and depth of color to create his paintings. By downplaying the significance of the subject matter and simplifying the composition, he creates what he calls the “big vision” by layering dry-brush and washes which connect all of the components of a painting into a single broad harmony. His acrylic paintings achieve the transparency of watercolor, the luminosity of oils, and the softness of pastels.
