Born in Wichita, Cox established himself in San Francisco where he and a colleague formed a commercial art business. He was a member of many illustrious arts organization, including the Bohemian Club, San Francisco Illustrators’ Club, and the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters. Many of his best known works were executed on commission from such esteemed entities as the U.S. Air Force, Pacific Steamship Company, and the Alaska Railroad, as seen here.
The Alaska Railroad was the cover illustration for an illustrated brochure and timetable in 1927.
Southeast Alaska was the cover illustration for a 1930 brochure for the Pacific Steamship Co. souvenir passenger list.
